Fresno in the news

My hometown is often thought of (fairly, in my opinion) as a hick town, filled with lots of violent crime and unemployment. There aren't a lot of opportunities there, and nothing of import usually goes on.

But today I noticed a story from Fresno making the internet rounds, and last week there was a shooting near Fresno State, which also made national headlines. Fresno's popping up on the radar!

The story I guess is the first transgendered person was named prom queen at a high school in Fresno. Awesome, and quite surprising given it's conservative nature.
